Coaching Changes — San Antonio Clark

San Antonio Clark has promoted offensive coordinator Steve McGhee to be their next head coach. McGhee will replace Lloyd Alexander who retires after 32 years of working at San Antonio Clark.

Alexander started at Clark when they opened the doors in 1978 (32 years ago). He became the head coach and Athletic Coordinator in 2002 and led the Cougars to a 66-30 record during that time. Before coming to Clark, he spent two seasons as an assistant at San Antonio Southwest.

This is the first head coaching job for McGhee who is a 1988 Clark graduate. He was an assistant coach at Reagan for two years before going to Clark in 2002. Before that he had stops at San Antonio O'Conner and San Antonio Roosevelt.

The Cougars have gone 26-3 over the past two seasons with trips to the quarterfinals (2009) and semfinals (2008). The 13 wins in both 2008 and 2009 are the most in school history. The appearance in the state semifinals in 2008 was their first in school history.

Clark will be a member of District 27-5A along with San Antonio Brandeis, San Antonio Holmes, San Antonio Jay, San Antonio Marshall, San Antonio O'Connor, San Antonio Stevens, San Antonio Taft and San Antonio Warren. The Cougars have had only 5 losing seasons in their 32 year history.
