Strunk Comes to Lubbock to Tackle Texas Football!

2011 Coaching Change -- Lubbock Westerners

Old Head Coach: Mike Speck -- Resigned after 7 years with the Westerners. His team went 0-10 in 2010 and were 12-58 during his 7 seasons. Coach Speck has a career record of 34-92.

New Head Coach: Jason Strunk -- Was the offensive quality control and assistant offensive line coach at Purdue University last season. Before that he coached at Pennsylvania and Florida turning about programs there. Strunk started off as the defensive coordinator and assistant coach at Northhampton Pa. He then went on to be the linebackers coach at Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania. In 2008, he took over Plant City Fla. and led them to a 7-3 record. Before he arrived they have gone 6-26 in the previous 3 season. This will be his first coaching job in Texas.

Team News: The Westerners are currently on a 12 year losing streak and have 21 consecutive non-winning years. They have not been to the playoffs since 1975.
