2011 Coaching Change: Mason Cowpunchers

Old Head Coach: Russell Joy -- Leaving after leading the Cowpunchers to a 39-20 record over the last 5 seasons. He leaves after making it to the Quarterfinals last year with a 12-2 record.

New Head Coach: Kade Burns -- Coming from 2A Thorndale where he led the Bulldogs to a 15-6 record over the last two seasons. Before his Thornadale job, he was an assistant at Monahans. His brother Kevin is the head coach at 1A Bronte and his dad Melvin Burns was the Cowpunchers head coach (1971-1977,1984-1988) compiling a 101-32-1. Kade is a graduate of Mason.

Team News: The Cowpunchers have had 3 consecutive 9+ win seasons. Their main rival is Goldthwaite. They are 3-11 vs. them though since 1996 including 2 losses in 2010.
