Texas City Hires Leland Surovik From West Columbia

2012 Coaching Change: Texas City Stingarees

Old Head Coach: Tim Finn -- Leaving for 3A Wharton. He led the Stingarees for the past 11 years to an overall 68-49-0 record. Before taking over as head coach, coach Finn was an assistant with the Stingarees.

New Head Coach: Leland Surovik -- From 3A West Columbia where he led the Roughnecks to a 34-21 record over the last 5 seasons. He has also been an assistant coach at La Marque from 1996-1998 and with the Roughnecks from 1998-2006.

Team News: The Stingarees have gone 18-22 over there last 4 seasons. They will remain in Class 4A District 24 with the last UIL re-alignment. The other schools in the district will be Baytown Goose Creek Memorial, Baytown Lee, Friendswood, Galena Park, Galveston Ball, Pearland Dawson and Santa Fe.
