Cypress Springs Brings In Taylor Head Coach

2012 Coaching Change: Cypress Springs Panthers
Old Head Coach: Roland Gonzalez -- Leaving for 4A Victoria East. He led the Panthers to an overall 10-29 record over the last 4 seasons including going 0-10 last year. Gonzalez has also been the head coach at Corpus Christi Ray where he led the Texans to a 33-20 record over 5 seasons. His all-time coaching record now sits at 43-49. Before taking over as a head coach, he was an assistant at Stephenville under Art Briles.
New Head Coach: Rick Cobia -- From 3A Taylor where he led the Ducks to a record of 25-47 over the past 7 seasons. His only other head coaching position was with 3A Caldwell where he went 33-31 from 1999-2004. He has also been an assistant at Katy and Cypress Falls.
Team News: The Panthers are on a 8 year losing streak going 17-62. They will remain in District 17-5A with the last UIL re-alignment. The other schools in the district will be Cypress Creek, Cypress Fairbanks, Cypress Falls, Cypress Lakes, Cypress Ranch, Cypress Ridge, Cypress Woods, HJersey Village and Langham Creek.
