Vernon Promotes Longtime Offensive Coordinator

2012 Coaching Change: Vernon Lions
Old Head Coach: Andy Correll -- Leaving after leading the Lions to a 2-18 record over the last 2 seasons. He came over from Portales, New Mexico. He coached there for four seasons compiling a 24-25 overall record making the playoffs every year. His 2008 team won the New Mexico 3A state championship.
New Head Coach: Mark Bateman -- Coached the Lions for the past 10 years including the last 7 as the offensive coordinator. Before coming to Vernon, Bateman was the head coach for Electra.
Team News: The Lions are now on a 4 year losing streak. They have gone 3-27 over the past 3 seasons. They will be moving to District 5-3A from 6-3A with the last UIL re-alignment. The other schools in the district will be Burkburnett, Graham, Iowa Park and Wichita Falls Hirschi.
