2012 LSG Texas High School Football Team Preview — Abbott Panthers

Team: Abbott Panthers (13-6Man Division I)

First Varsity Season: 1929

Stadium: Panther Field (Capacity: 250)

Enrollment: 97 -- largest in the district out of 4 schools

Coach: Terry Crawford

Coaches Comments: Lot of talent at the RB position. Need SOPH QB Branden Urbanosky to mature into the starting role. More athletic defensively to hopefully help fix defending the spread that gave us trouble next year. District Outlook: Aquilla and Bynum

Returning Lettermen: 13

Returning Starters: Offense: 4 Defense: 4

* Tyler Russell - Returning all state RB (281-2816- 46 TDs)
* Dillon Beims - RB Returning from injury that sidelined him after week 5
* Marshall Nors - All Region Defensive line
* Ryan Popp - SE (18-358-9TDs)
* Tanner Pope - FB

Notes:
* 8 consecutive 7+ win seasons

Mike Says: The Panthers will look for Russell to carry the offense again this year. Look for them to advance to at least the Quarterfinals where they might find Oakwood waiting.

Chris Says: The Panthers bring back a lot of players but very few starters. Tyler Russell returning at RB will make up for a lot of inexperience in other spots, but his linemen will need to make holes. If the backup experience translates into starter performance, look for another fine season for Abbott.
