2012 LSG Texas High School Football Team Preview — Midland Christian Mustangs

Coaches Comments: Coming off a state championship 12-2 season in 2011, we have a key group of returning players that can lead us back for a 5th state championship since 2000. Challenge will be to replace 17 quality seniors lost to graduation. The JV went 8-1 and several of those players will be counted on to help bring home another championship. District Outlook: the district will be strong once again. I think the order should stay about the same with Midland Christian being on top, followed by Fort Worth Christian, Grapevine Faith, Waco Reicher, Arlington Pantego, Grace Prep then South West in that order.

* Christian Whigham 4 year starter 2400 yards and 46 td's in 2011 3,799 career rushing yards TOP 20 RB
* Mason McClendon as a sophomore passed for 2500 yards and 29 td's
* Caleb Thomas 3 year starter on the offensive line at center
* Elias Aguirre as a sophomore he had over 500 yards receiving and 7 td's
* Matt Counts had 115 tackles as the middle linebacker
* Bryson Taylor 52 tackles as a defensive tackle.
* TE/LB JR Dakota Jones

Notes:

Mike Says: The Mustangs are looking at another championship year. With QB McClendon and RB Whigham both returning, this will be a very dangerous team. Whigham is one of the better backs in the state.

Chris Says: What can you say about Midland Christian? They know how to win. Last season, they started slow (0-2) before absolutely catching fire and rolling through the season. If Christian Whigham stays healthy, another title is very likely.
