2012 LSG Texas High School Football Team Preview — Austin St. Dominic Savio Catholic Eagles

Team: Austin St. Dominic Savio Catholic Eagles (TAPPS Class 4A)

Coach: Louie Becerra

Coaches Comments: I look for our defense to carry the team in 2012. We are moving up a division so that will be a challenge in itself. If we play strong defensively, we could surprise a lot of people in our district.

Returning Lettermen: 18

Returning Starters: Offense: 7 Defense: 8

Key Players:
* WR Daniel Minor (c/o 2013) should have a big year transitioning to the spread offense. Averaged 18.03 ypc in 2011 in a run heavy offense 38 receptions for 685 yards
* WR Michael Harrell (c/o 2013) is making the move to WR after spending 2011 as FB. His speed will create match up problems for most defenders
* RB Sam Alvarado (c/o 2015) will have a big year. Started three games at RB for the Eagles as a freshman and had a game high 129 yards on 19 carries in his debut
* DE Andrew McKenna (c/o 2014) will look to have a strong junior season after being sidelined in 2011 by injury.

Notes:

• Mike Says: This will be a very interesting season for the Eagles as they move to a spread offense. They will have plenty of athletes on offense to make this work with Minor, Harrell and Alvarado leading the way.

• Chris Says: The Eagles have a lot going against them this season.  They move up in classification AND they are going to a new offense.  That said, they bring a lot of experience back and those snaps last season will prove invaluable in this one.  Look for Austin St. Dominic Savio to do similar to last season.
