Mike Says: The Wolves look to be a strong title contender this season. After going 8-3 and making it to the Area playoffs last year, they bring back 17 starters and drop down a classification. They have some good games on the schedule with a pre-district matchup against Tenaha. Once in district it will not be easy with Alto in the way. Look for them to go 9-1 or 8-2 in the regular season and then a trip to at least the Regionals. They have the ability to go further but it will be tough with Alto, Price Carlisle and Mart in the region.

Chris Says: San Augustine brings back some solid experience on both sides of the ball AND they drop down to Class 1A. Those two factors should tell you right away that it is going to be a good season. The only real challenge for the district title will be Alto, but a lot of folks think it won't matter. Clearly, their game the second-to-last week will decide the title. Once in the playoffs, the Wolves should go several rounds deep before running into some of the Class 1A powerhouse teams.
