2012 LSG Texas High School Football Team Preview — Dayton Broncos
Team: Dayton Broncos (19-4A)
Colors: Purple/White
First Varsity Season: 1922
Stadium: Bronco Stadium (Year Opened: 1941 Rebuilt in 2007)
Enrollment: 1,433 -- 5th largest in the district out of 9 schools
Coach: Jowell Hancock (1 Year) 9-4 at Dayton; 9-4 all-time coaching record
Coaches Comments: Will hurt loosing QB - Herrea / WR - Fowler / Reyes Alot of JRs in 2011 will make for alot of returning experience. The O might take a little while to get going but have a more mobile / bigger arm QB and returning 3 on the O-line that are studs. Look for more of a running game this year because McBride RB is too good to not to get plenty of touches. The defense will be much better with 7 returning and a great JV class to fill some spots. District Outlook: New district with Humble / Summer Creek / Kingwood Park / Crosby / Barbers Hill / Dayton all fighting for 4 spots. The new district is much more competitive and will be a challenge. Dayton seems to be a team that always gets in the playoffs and no matter what spot goes 3 rounds deep.
Returning Lettermen: 20
Returning Starters: Offense: 6 Defense: 7
Key Players:
* RB/DB Ryan McBride quick / elusive great hands out of back field.

Notes:
* Back to Back 9-4 seasons
* 6 Consecuting 9+ win seasons
- Mike Says: The Broncos did not miss a beat last year with new head coach Hancock stepping in and getting their 6th consecutive 9+ win season. I have seen K Carranco and he is the real deal. Be checking our records pages because he will be breaking some all-time records this year. Look for the Broncos to win the district and going Division I even though they are one of the smaller schools in the district. It will not be easy getting out of the Region with Nederland, Angleton and Pearland Dawson waiting in Division I. A bi-district match-up with Nederland or Port Neches-Groves awaits.
- Chris Says: Dayton always seems to be one of that teams that is IN every game win or lose and every game will come down to the wire - what a fun program from a fan point of view. Sure, it must be ulcer-inducing as a coach, but these Broncos will again be a good team. Expect them to do fine again in the regular season with a lot of late-game heroics and and expect them to be around a few rounds deep again this year.
