2012 LSG Texas High School Football Team Preview — Andrews Mustangs

Stadium: Mustang Bowl (Year Opened: 1957)

Enrollment: 912.5 -- 2nd largest in the district out of 6 schools

Coach: Ralph Mason (1st year); First Head Coaching Position

Coaches Comments: 9 off 9 def starters return from 5-5 (1-3) team. Led by Jr. QB Shane Dolegener (6-3, 200lb) the Mustangs have plenty of weapons back from 2011 where 13 sophomores saw major playing time. The move to new district will be tough but Mustangs should contend for a play-off spot. WR's Tadarius Ridge and Coy Lopez will be Dolgeners favorite targets. On defense LB's Justin Bills and Garrett Baucom will lead what should be a much improved defense. As a large 3A school, Andrews has good numbers and depth should be a strength. PREDICTION 10-3. 3-2 DISTRICT

Mike Says: The Mustangs bring back 17 starters this year. Quarterback Shane Dolgener will head up the offense that scored 40 or more points 4 times in their 10 games. Look for them to go 5-5 or 4-6 this season and battle for that 3rd playoff spot. This will be a fun district to watch with no clear favorites.

Chris Says: New Head Coach, Ralph Mason walks into a job at a good program that brings back most of their starters on both sides of the ball. Class 3A will be tough on them come playoff time, but the Mustangs should have no problem reaching postseason. Expect them to win more than they lose and be in the thick of things for District 2-3A and be around for a few rounds into the "second season."
