- Mike Says: The Knights played in their second consecutive 5A state championship last year and they have only been playing varsity ball since 2006. They were the 5th 5A team to play in back to back championship games since 2000 and are one of the winningest teams in Class 5A History. They move from a tough 25-5A to 28-5A where they will play in a district with Corpus and some of the less powerful San Antonio schools. They will win this district with no problems. They are strong on both sides of the ball with superstar RB Stockton and WR Mayle leading the offense while DB's Huhn and Sterns head up the defense. This is a good team. They play a very tough non-district schedule with games against San Antonio Madison, Converse Judson, Kerrville Tivy and Austin Westlake. Look for them to go 9-1 or 8-2 in the regular season and then on to at least the Quarterfinals. This is a team that could very well be playing in their 3rd consecutive state championship game.
- Chris Says: I've said it every year for the past four, I like Coach Mike Jinks. He "gets it." Not only does he understand how to motivate players and turn them into winners. These Cibolo Steele Knights have been nothing short of amazing in their short six year existence. This year will be no different. They bring back some quality starters and a whole mess of lettermen, plus the move into an easier district. I expect the Knights to win District 28-5A and have another solid playoff run. Yes, I do see them making it to their third straight championship game. The question is, can they finish the job?
