Mike Says: The Lobos had another 10+ win season last year making that the 7th time in the last 8 seasons. This year they should make that 8 out of 9. Their defense will be one of the states best with lots of returning starters and the leadership of LB DeMarkus Lathan. Other defensive stars will be LB Jordan Burton and DB Corey Bartley. The Lobos have lost to the eventual state champions 3 of the past 4 years. They are hoping to get over the hump this year. They have a great winning tradition, a great quarterback and a lot of defensive returning starters. That sounds like a championship team. Look for them to go 9-1 or 10-0 in the regular season and win the district championship. They will go Division II in the playoffs and should get to at least the Quarterfinals if not the championship game. A cool match-up would be them against Austin Lake Travis (15-5A). They played each other in the 2008 & 2009 Class 4A Championship games.

Chris Says: Longview is a team that has been fun to watch for a long time. Consider this - Coach John King has won over 90 games in 8 seasons and he is only the #3 winningest head coach in Longview history! These Lobos understand winning. I for one, am really looking forward to that great East Texas rivalry game when they take on Lufkin. I intend to be there for some great football action. I expect a lot from Longview this season. The should be in the hunt for a title shot again, if not close.
