2013 Coaching Change: Henderson Lions
Old Head Coach: Dickey Meeks — Leaving for 3A Pittsburg. He led the Lions for the past 7 years to a 44-39-0 record. His 2010 Lion team won the Class 3A Division I State Championship. He also won a state championship when he was the head coach at Tyler Chapel Hill in 1989. He has also been the head coach at Longview Pine Tree 1996-1999 (15-26) and Mount Vernon 2000-2005 (42-26).
New Head Coach: Phil Castles -- From 4A Corsicana where he led the Tigers to a 30-19 record over the past 4 seasons. The Tigers made the semifinals in 2011. He has also been a head coach at Tyler Chapel Hill (2005-2008 24-22-0) and Elysian Fields (2002-2004 28-9). Before being a head coach, he was an assistant with the Tigers and Texarkana Texas.
Team News: The Lions have gone 33-8 during their 3 years of being in Class 3A. They went 13-37 during the previous 4 years in Class 4A.
