Coaches Comments: Better on Defense and good team speed, and good size, good strength.  Identifying the QB will be the key to a lot of our success offensively. We a really good OLine and a good DLine. We have good size and great team speed. We have a lot of holes to fill w the departure of: QB Shane McCarley to Old Dominion, WR's Carlos Thompson to TTech, Austin Bennett to OU, and Kyrion Parker to A&M, DB Tavares Garner to A&M, DT Dewan Edmonson to UTEP, OL Travis Romero to SELA, WR Kwadre Wilson to HBU, DB Jared Ambres to UIW, DT Keylon Harris, RB Richard Rose and DE Johnathan London to SE Prep. I think we have some really good kids that will step in and fill those voids. I believe we will have another very successful season as we will be much improved on defense and still be able to move the ball adequately offensively  District Outlook: Manvel, Pearland, Pasadena Memorial, Dobie, Alvin

      • Mike Says: The Mavericks had a great first year in Class 5A last year. They will need to find a QB to replace McCarley but they do have great team speed and very good offensive and defensive lines. Look for them to compete with Pearland for the district title and then make it to at least the Regionals.
      • Chris Says: Manvel doesn't bring back a ton of players but if QB, Stefan Kahn can get the ball to returner, Koda Martin his size and skills can be a difference maker. Coach Martin will rely heavily on the experience of his returners anchored by OL, Cory Klingler.  That, combined with the amazing support in the community should mean a return to the district title chase and another great playoff run.  Some key players will have to step up early if they are to make it back to the state title game, but with the experience and strength of the lines, they will have time to learn.
