* The Cavaliers had just four winning seasons since 1985 and were 0-10 in 2002
- Mike Says: The Cavaliers did not disappoint during their first year in Class 5A. They started out with a bang with a convincing win over Converse Judson but fell early in the playoffs. They are know for their high powered passing game but will rely this year on an experienced defense and a strong running game led by Shaun Nixon. They have a great schedule that includes Austin Westlake, Round Rock Westwood and A&M Consolidated. Look for them to go 8-2 or 9-1 in the regular season and go to maybe the Quarterfinals to face Westlake again.
- Chris Says: If last season a chink appeared in the armor of Lake Travis, this is the year that they will receive a flesh wound. Don't get me wrong - I am not predicting "the king is dead." I am predicting the king is human. Once again, I expect the Cavaliers to be strong and once again, they will be odds on favorite to win the District 15-5A crown. And despite my prediction of Austin Westlake as the better team this season, Lake Travis could still win the district. I expect them to go further in the playoffs this season, but not much.
