5A Pre-Season Championship Picks
- Mike Says: In last years game, Steele's RB Justin Stockton (who is back this year) ran for 263 yards and scored 4 TDs as Steele rolled past Madison 41-21. The Knights jumped out to a 24-0 lead at halftime in front of a crowd of 7,438. This year, both of these teams once again have high expectations. We have Madison going to Championship Game and Steele in the Semifinals. These two teams have one difference though and that is coaches. Madison's Jim Streety has 332 career victory's (#4 all-time) while Steele's Scott Lehnhoff will be coaching his first game as the man in charge. Madison will find a way to stop Stockton this year. The MAVERICKS win it 35-27!!
- Chris Says: Hmm... on paper this one looks like a clear win for Cibolo Steele. But, they don't play football on paper! Cibolo leeds the series. Cibolo brings back a powerhouse running back in Justin Stockton. Cibolo returns most of their starters on both sides of the ball. While the loss of Coach Jinks is certainly a disappointment for the Knights, new head coach, Scott Lehnhoff has been with the team as Offensive Coordinator since the school opened. So why is this game in doubt? Aw heck, it's not. The KNIGHTS take the win 41-31!!!
- LSG Intern Zach Says: I like the Knights here. They’re at home, they return a lot of talent and they still have Justin Stockton. Those last two reasons are also why I don’t see any major drop off with Lenhoff, their former offensive coordinator, taking the reins. He starts his career undefeated. Knights 38-30.
