In association with Elite Scouting Services we have released the Top 100 recruiting prospects. We have broken them down by position for our ongoing series. These are the best recruiting prospects across the Texas high school football world.
Running Backs (14)
Rodney Anderson, Katy, 6’1, 205
Everything Anderson has touched during his Katy career has turned to gold. A consistent high-level performer, the Oklahoma verbal has rushed for 4,060 yards and 64 touchdowns in an illustrious career. The Second Team Student Sports Junior All-American rushed for 1,967 yards and 34 touchdowns on a Texas 5A-Division II runner-up in 2013.
Jay Bradford, Splendora, 5’11, 190
Speed is the name of the game for this Texas A&M commit. Bradford won Texas 3A gold medals in the long jump and the 100-meter dash during his junior year. His long jump victory was by more than a foot while his 100-meter time was a blistering 10.49 seconds. As a junior on the gridiron, Bradford earned Second Team 22-3A All-District honors after rushing for 1,402 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Remus Bulmer, Fort Bend Ridge Point. 5’7, 175
Bulmer is one of the most underrated prospects in the entire state of Texas. As a junior at Fort Bend Dulles, Bulmer rushed for 1,862 yards and 19 touchdowns before moving over to Ridge Point. Air Force has offered Bulmer, but expect more activity after an impressive 2014 season. Fort Bend Ridge Point is a serious threat to make some noise in Class 5A this season.
Patrick Carr, The Woodlands, 5’8, 180
A viable threat to take it the distance every time he touches the football, Carr has had some major success in his high school career. Carr rushed for 1,397 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior. Arizona State, Kentucky, TCU, and Texas Tech are hotly pursuing Carr, who rushed for nearly 2,000 yards as a sophomore.
Davon Crookshank, Fort Bend Marshall, 5’10, 195
On a talented Fort Bend Marshall ballclub in 2013, Crookshank rushed for 1,095 yards and 18 touchdowns. Crookshank, who is averaging 9.6 yards per carry over his impressive prep career, is verbally committed to Wisconsin over offers from Baylor, Colorado, Fresno State, and Houston to name a few.
Tyreik Gray, Houston Lamar, 5’11, 185
A dynamic speedster, Gray rushed for 1,046 yards and 19 touchdowns while adding 334 receiving yards and three more touchdowns as a junior at Bellaire Episcopal. Gray has moved on to Houston Lamar to join a loaded roster and holds offers from the likes of Baylor, Louisville, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State.
JaMycal Hasty, Longview, 5’8, 185
Hasty is verbally committed to Baylor. The speedy back had some injury struggles as a junior, but still managed to earn First Team 12-5A All-District honors after rushing for 1,413 yards and 13 touchdowns. Hasty selected the in-state Bears over a laundry list of Big 12 level offers.
Tristian Houston, Galena Park North Shore, 5’11, 195
A unanimous First Team 21-5A All-District choice as a junior, Houston rushed for 1,495 yards and 18 touchdowns and nearly 10 yards per carry. The Galena Park North Shore product verbally committed to Texas over an impressive offer list that included Arkansas, LSU, and UCLA.
Soso Jamabo, Plano West, 6’3, 210
Jamabo is one of the most highly coveted Texas prospects in the Class of 2015. His impressive offer list includes Baylor, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, and Texas.As a junior, Jamabo rushed for 1,077 yards and 10 touchdowns on limited touches. Jamabo participated in “The Opening,” a summer prospect camp held at the Nike campus in Oregon.
Ronald Jones, McKinney North, 6’0, 185
Oklahoma State got itself one of the most highly productive running back prospects in the state. As a junior, Jones rushed for 2,409 yards and 39 touchdowns to earn First Team 4A TSWA (Texas Sports Writers Association) All-State honors along with his Most Valuable Player nod in District 13-4A.
Devine Ozigbo, Sachse, 5’11, 215
Seeming to receive an offer a week from FBS programs, Ozigbo has committed to Iowa State over Boise State, Iowa, Miami (FL), and Wisconsin among the near 25 offers the Sachse product as received. The workhorse rushed for 948 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior and has more than 3,000 rushing yards in his career.
Jordan Stevenson, South Oak Cliff, 5’9, 185
Henderson was lights out as a junior after transferring from Dallas Skyline to join a South Oak Cliff squad loaded with FBS level talent. Stevenson, who is committed to Texas, rushed for 2,019 yards and 18 touchdowns. Stevenson also recorded 307 receiving yards and two touchdowns to assist SOC’s passing game.
Chris Warren, Rockwall, 6’2, 235
Warren got off to a monster start in 2013, including a 350-yard performance in a 52-42 loss to Garland Naaman Forest. Warren finished with 747 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns in less than four full games. The son of former NFL running back Chris Warren holds offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Ohio State, and Texas.
Juwan Washington, Kennedale, 5’6, 170
Washington joins another running back who arguably deserves to be on this list in a commitment to San Diego State. Jatory Sparks-Brown of DeSoto and Washington give the Aztecs two potent options. Washington exploded for 2,444 yards and 38 touchdowns as a junior to earn First Team 6-3A All-District honors. His absence from the postseason All-State lists is a head-scratcher.
