Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos (15-0) vs. Aledo Bearcats (15-0) UIL Class 5A DII Texas High School Football State Championship.
The Aledo Bearcats beat the Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos 40-28 in the Class 5A Division II Championship game. It was Aledo's 8th championship in their 10th championship game. The eight championships ties them with Celina, Katy, Richland Springs and Southlake Carroll for the most all-time. Fort Bend Marshall was competing in their first Championship game.
Fort Bend Marshall got the ball and had to punt. Aledo scored on their first drive as Jase McClellan ran it in from 42 yards out to make it 7-0. Marshall scored on their next possession but it was called back due to a holding call. They were then forced to punt and pinned Aledo back at their 1. Aledo fumbled on their first play on a big hit by Marshall linebacker Jerrell Mayweather and it was recovered by Frank Miller in the end zone for a touchdown. The extra point was not good to bring the score to 7-6. Aledo's McClellan ran it in again, this time from 6 yards out to make the score 14-6. The teams traded punts as the quarter ended.

The Buffalos finished their drive with a 4 yard touchdown run by quarterback Malik Hornsby. The 2 point conversion was no good to make the score 14-12. On Aledo's next possession, McClellan gets his 3rd touchdown of the game and Aledo leads 21-12 with 7:22 left until half. After a Buffalos punt, Aledo's McClellan scored his 4th touchdown on a 23 yard pass from Jake Bishop. That made the score 28-12 with 2:00 remaining in the half. Marshall completed a long pass into Aledo territory looking to keep it close before halftime. They were then were unable to convert on a 4th down play and came away with nothing. Aledo then ran out the clock.

The ball bounced in front of the Buffalo returner on the kickoff and Aledo's defensive back Reagan Rice recovered it at the Marshall 21. Three plays later, Bishop hit Devan Daugherty for a 20 yard touchdown pass. The score was then 42-12. Aledo lineman Aidan Hayes caused a fumble and it was recovered by defensive back Will Greenwood at the Marshall 36. Bishop ran it in from 7 yards out and the extra point was missed to make the score 48-12. Marshall had the ball as the quarter ended.

Marshall started the fourth by punting and Aledo scored on a pass from Bishop to JoJo Earle to make the score 55-12. Marshall got a last minute score on a 51 yard pass to make it 55-19 but it was too little, too late. Aledo ran out the clock for the win.
