A half hour before kickoff, the clouds rolled in and delayed the game due to lightning and rain.

Directly above our heads a funnel cloud began its descent to the ground before breaking apart just above our heads.
After a delay of over an hour, the kids took the field for this very important district battle.
After losing their starting running back and star receiver to knee injuries, and after it was clear that Lexington was going to win in a blowout, the most devastating event of the evening struck. DB Michael Thompson collapsed on the field prior to the snap. The crowd sat in silence for thirty minutes as medical professionals attending to him and eventually took him away in the ambulance.
Despite 5:28 remaining in the game, there was no point in continuing the game and the teams silently exchanged handshakes and well-wishes as the crowd filed out without a sound.
At last report, Michael Thompson was said to have a strong pulse and breathing, but was unresponsive. Our prayers are with Michael, his friends, his family, and everyone in the Hempstead area.
