Arlington Lamar To Compete In National 7-on-7 Tournament

The Arlington Lamar Vikings are traveling to Birmingham Alabama this Thursday through Saturday to compete in the 64-team National Select 7-on-7 Championship Tournament to be held at Hoover High.

Lamar is one of the top 7-on-7 programs in the state.  The Vikings and Colleyville Heritage are the only teams in Texas that have qualified for every state championship tournament (1998-2008). They are 27-9 at state championship games and have been in the final four three times.

Lamar is 31-4 this season, including the state tournament where they fell in their second consecutive semifinals appearance at the FSN Southwest 7-on-7 State Championships in College Station two weeks ago. They lost by a combined total of 2 points in those two semifinal losses.

Three Vikings were named to the all-tournament team at the FSN Southwest 7-on-7 State Championship Tournament.

Lamar relies on money from fund-raisers and corporate donations (nearly $6,000 total) to travel to the Alabama event, held at the school made famous through the MTV show Two-A-Days.
