CUERO - Lone Star Gridiron's #5 ranked 3A team, the Cuero Gobblers opened their season against a larger school - 4A Beeville Jones that is also considered a top 20 by many groups in the state.
Cuero worked through some early game foibles and got their offense and defense rolling in fine fashion quickly. Tyler Arndt shook off the rust and turned in a fine game. Arndt piloted his team to a 46-14 season opening win. In addition to QB play, running back Cole Pargmann ran for 99 with one TD, and caught 25 yards in the air.
The atmosphere at Gobbler field was electric - THIS is Texas high school football. The whole town turned out to watch their gridiron warriors and the team responded with a dramatic stomping of the Trojans from Beeville.
For Beeville, there are some definite things to work. Coach David Wetzell was asked what positives he could take away from this game and replied simply, "nothing."
