Quarterback Matt Dodds threw for two touchdowns in the final three minutes to rally the #49 Austin Bowie Bulldogs past the 9th ranked Pflugerville Panthers 30-29 in a District 25-5A showdown at Burger Stadium.
Dodds' second touchdown pass of the night went to Alex Rocha with 24 seconds left to give Bowie its only lead of the night.
Pflugerville dominated for most of the game, building a 29-17 lead with 3:56 left in the fourth quarter on Justin Garelick's third field goal of the night.
Bowie then rallied, and on the next drive, Dodds led the Bulldogs 56 yards down the field, scoring on a touchdown toss from Dodds to John Garcia with 2:48 remaining.
Pflugerville recovered the onside kick but was forced to punt after three plays. Garelick got off a 41-yard punt to pin a timeout-less Bowie at its own 14-yard line with 1:37 remaining.
Dodds engineered a quick drive down the field, converting a fourth-and-10 along the way. The drive was aided by a pass interference call as Garcia was tripped by a Pflugerville defender in the end zone on the play before Dodds' second touchdown pass.
Dodds went 6 for 11 on the final two drives and also rushing for two first downs. Before those final two drives, Dodds had been shut down by the Pflugerville defense, going 6 for 22 for 38 yards and three interceptions.
The teams scored a combined 30 points in the opening quarter which was highlighted by back-to-back kickoff return touchdowns by Bowie's Heath Hohmann and Pflugerville's Sammy Flowers.
