The Brownwood football coach announced his resignation last Friday. Steve Freeman was the head coach for the Lions football program for the last 12 years.
Freeman was the third Brownwood football coach to resign since the close of the regular season. Mitch Moore, the Offensive coordinator and Charles Copeland, the defensive coordinator have resigned as well.
Brownwood finished the season at 3-7. Many considered this years team to be a Top-10 3A team with a shot a state championship. It was the second straight year the Lions had finished out of the playoffs. This had not happened at Brownwood in more than a decade.
Freeman finished with an overall record of 90-52 at Brownwood, with two district titles and two trips to the state quarterfinals.
