Pat Honeycutt, who had led the Austin McCallum Knights longer than any coach , passed away on Friday. Early reports state that Honeycutt became ill during a McCallum basketball game and died later at St. David's Hospital.
Coach Honeycutt came to McCallum from the Euless Trinity program where he was an assistant under legendary Trojan head coach John Reddell. Honeycutt's record at McCallum is 96-82-1 over 17 seasons which made him easily the winningest coach in the program's history.
