Port Neches-Groves Coach Search

Port Neches-Groves has released an impressive list of applicants for the vacant boy’s athletic director/head football coaching job. The list includes eight current head coaches.
A second round of interviews runs from January 30th to February 3rd and the board will vote on a finalist on February 10th. The new coach/athletic directors first day is March 2.
The list includes Liberty Hill coach Jerry Vance who won Class 3A state titles in 2006 and 2007 and Corpus Christi Calallens Philip Danaher. Danaher has won 396 games which ranks him third most in Texas high school history. Other head coaches to apply for the position are Mike Long (Kelly), Darrell Andrus (Flour Bluff), Robert Howell (Zachary), Robert Jones (Aldine), Kristopher Micheaux (Gonzales) and J. Mike Rabe (Ganado).
The hired coach will replace Matt Burnett, who coached at Port Neches-Groves for 22 seasons, the last 15 as the head coach.
