Texas Leads The Parade All-America Team

Ten Texas High School football players are listed on this years Parade magazine's All-America high school team. This is the magazine's 46th annual All-America team. The list is headed by Parade's Player of the Year which is Austin Lake Travis Quarterback Garrett Gilbert.
Gilbert joins players like Emmitt Smith and Vince Young as being named Player of the Year. The All-American team consist of a roster of 58 standout athletes from 25 states. They are selected by coaches, journalists, scouts, and recruiters.
Joining Gilbert on the All-America Team is Pflugerville defensive end Alex Okafor, Sulphur Springs quarterback Tyrik Rollison, Cypress Ridge quarterback Russell Shepard, Rockwall Heath running back Kendial Lawrence, Dayton receiver A.J. Dugat, Jamarkus McFarland of Lufkin, Wolfforth Frenship offensive lineman Mason Walters, Abilene linebacker Chris Williams and Houston Eisenhower safety Craig Loston.
Fifteen Parade All-Americans have won the Heisman Trophy: Tim Tebow, Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart, Eric Crouch, Chris Weinke, Ron Dayne, Herschel Walker, Charles Woodson, Rashaan Salaam, Marcus Allen, Billy Sims, Earl Campbell, Tony Dorsett, Steve Spurrier, and Mike Garrett.
The NFL currently boasts 172 Parade All-Americans, including Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts and Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings.
Other recognizable Parade All-Americans are Earl Campbell, Dan Marino, Joe Montana and John Elway.
