Corpus Christi King’s Coach Resigns

Jim Elam has resigned from his position as athletic coordinator and head coach at Corpus Christi King. He has spent the last 19 years with the Corpus Christi Independent School District as either an assistant or head coach.

Elam was the defensive coordinator in charge of the secondary when he started in 1990. Four years later he was hired as Moody’s athletic coordinator and head coach. He left the Trojans after compiling a 32-31-1 record in six seasons at the school, including three playoff appearances. He took over the program at King in 2000 and was the 10th coach in King history.

Jim started a disappointing 0-10 in his first season with the Mustangs but built his team to 10-3 in 2003. That 2003 team won the district championship and reached the Region IV-5A Division II semifinals.

Elam leaves King with a 37-57 overall record.
