Three Rivers Coach Eddie Hesseltine Accepts Corpus Christi King Job

Corpus Christi King has hired former Three Rivers head coach Eddie Hesseltine as their new head coach. Hesseltine takes over for Jim Elam who resigned in February after going 3-7 in 2008. Elam compiled a 37-57 record in his nine years guiding the Mustangs.

Hesseltine's Class 2A Bulldogs went 9-2 in 2008 where he led them to the second round of the playoffs. During the regular season, the Three Rivers defense gave up an average of just 7.8 points per game and recorded five shutouts. Three Rivers had winning seasons all 3 years that Hesseltine was there. Before his arrival, they had 5 consecutive losing seasons.

By comparison, King gave up an average of 29.5 points per game last season and is currently on a 5 year losing streak.
