Katy Wins 3rd Straight Rosenberg Terry State Qualifying Tournament

The Katy Tigers have now won the Rosenberg Terry State Qualifying Tournament for the 3rd year in a row. The Tigers dominated pool play, and then defeated Alvin Manvel in the semis before beating Fort Bend Dulles 35-25 in the championship game. Katy won in a shootout in the semifinals against Alvin Manvel. The Tigers jumped out an early 26-6 lead but the Mavericks led by WR SaQwan Edwards came roaring back to tie the game 26-26 at halftime. The teams traded touchdowns in the 2nd half until Katy got a defensive stop and won the game 53-46. Katy’s quarterback Michael Stojkovic was sharp all day hitting his top receivers Ryan James and Zachary Swanson. Dulles was the other team to punch a ticket to the state championships in College Station with their semifinal win over Katy Cinco Ranch 32-15. The Vikings intercepted three passes in the end zone to get the victory. Katy Cinco Ranch won the 3rd place game 52-26 over Alvin Manvel.
This was the 10th year that Rosenberg Terry has hosted a state qualifying tournament and once again they put on one of the best in the state. A big Lone Star Gridiron salute goes out to Terry and their coaches.
Pool A: Fort Bend Dulles, Rosenberg Terry, Houston Bellaire, Houston Westside
The teams were all tied up with records of 1-1 at the end of the 2nd game. Dulles and Houston Westside both finished with 2-1 records with wins in game three. Dulles then advanced as the pool winner with their win over Westside 35-19 in game one. Houston Bellaire has already qualified with a runner up finish at the Texans (Saturday) SQT and they went 1-2 in pool play.

Katy Cinco Ranch was dominant in pool play going 3-0 and scoring a total of 137 points. Richmond Foster came in 2nd place with a 37-33 win over Houston Memorial in the 3rd game.

Katy brought their A game going 3-0 in pool play and scoring 144 points. The Tigers and Fort Bend Austin were both 2-0 entering the 3rd game but Katy took care of business vs Austin 62-24 to win the pool.

Alvin Manvel and Katy Mayde Creek both entered the 3rd game with 2-0 records but Manvel dominated the game and came away with a 47-6 victory.
