Pine Tree Gets Bellville Head Coach Chancellor
-
Updated: May 12, 2009
Pine Tree has hired Huey Chancellor as their new head coach. Chancellor comes over from 3A Bellville where he had a 115-49 record in 14 years there.
Coach Chancellor had only one losing season in 14 years at Bellville. Since 1999, his teams have made the playoffs every year except 2007. Bellville won district titles in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2008. The 2008 team compiled a 12-2 record and reached the Class 3A Region IV finals.
Chancellor will have a tough road ahead of him. The Longview Pine Tree Pirates have reached the playoffs only three times in the past 26 years. He replaces Tim Russell, who went 10-40 over the last five seasons. Russell resigned in early April and has since taken an assistant head coach position at Gilmer.
