Coaching Changes — Burleson

Burleson has announced that Jason Tucker will be the new Athletic Coordinator and Head Coach for the Elks. Tucker replaces Mel Maxfield, who resigned in January after eight seasons to take the head coaching job at Amarillo. Coach Maxfield is the Winningest coach in Burleson history 45-41.

This is Coach Tuckers first head football coach position. He was the defensive back coach and defensive coordinator at Burleson for the past three years. Before that he was the assistant offensive line and defensive back coach at Southlake Carroll.

Burleson is dropping to 4A this year after posting a 45-41 record in 5A for the last 8 seasons. The last 2 years they were in 4A (2000 & 2001) they had had combined 20-5 record. Things will be tough though because Burleson Centennial is opening up and will begin varsity play in 2012. They will also be in a very tough distict.

District 7-4A will consist of Arlington Seguin, Cleburne, Crowley, Everman, Granbury, Joshua and Mansfield Summit.
