Coaching Changes — Victoria West

Victoria West has hired their first head football coach. Leonard McAngus comes over from Justin Northwest to patrol the sidelines for the new school. McAngus is making a return visit to Victoria. He was the offensive coordinator under Mark Reeve at Victoria High from 1990 to 1995.

McAngus left Victoria to become the athletic director and head football coach at Gonzales. He had an overall record of 37-27 during his six seasons in Gonzales and led the Apaches to their first outright district championship in 38 years. He then became the athletic director and head football coach at Justin Northwest near Fort Worth before the 2002 season. He resigned before the 2009 season to become the director of campus services for athletics after compiling a 32-40 record.

The Vipers went 4-6 this season and missed out on the playoffs. The Victoria Memorial school was open for 9 seasons and had an All-Time Record of 43-62. They finished with 7 consecutive non-winning seasons.

Both Victoria East and West will be in class 4A now. They will be in a very competitive 30-4A that includes Beeville Jones, Floresville, Gregory-Portland and Port Lavaca Calhoun.
