Coaching Changes — Ganado

Ganado has found a replacement for their athletic director and head football coach Mike Rabe who left to take the same position at 3A Waco Connally. Jimmy Thompson will come over from Mount Pleasant where he retired and then came out of his short retirement to take over the job.
Rabe has been at Ganado for four seasons and has an overall record of 22-25. He led the Indians to consecutive semifinal appearances.
Coach Thompson had a 17-25 record at Mount Pleasant over the last 4 seasons and has a career record of 156-85-1. He began his career as an assistant at Nacogdoches, Livingston, Madisonville and Mexia. His head coaching jobs have been at Mexia, Hubbard, Trinity, Garrison and Cleveland before coming to Mount Pleasant. He was the head coach at Garrison when they played Ganado in the 2001 Class 2A, Division II semifinals.
The Indians are part of District 15 Division I which also includes Flatonia, Louise, Shiner and Yorktown. Ganado has gone 18-9 since dropping to 1A two seasons ago. The 2 years before that they went 4-16 competing in class 2A.
