Coaching Changes — Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant has hired Mart Graham as their new head coach after Jimmy Thompson retired and then came out of his short retirement to take over at 1A Ganado.

Coach Thompson had a 17-25 record at Mount Pleasant over the last 4 seasons and has a career record of 156-85-1. He began his career as an assistant at Nacogdoches, Livingston, Madisonville and Mexia. His head coaching jobs have been at Mexia, Hubbard, Trinity, Garrison and Cleveland before coming to Mount Pleasant.

Graham has been an assistant coach for Mount Pleasant during the last 4 seasons with Thompson. He was also on Thompsons staff at Garrison and Cleveland. Coach Graham has also been an assistant coach at Alto, Magnolia, Splendora and Brazoswood. His only other head coaching position was at Lovelady.

Mount Pleasant will be part of a very tough District 13-4A along with Denison, Greenville, Royse City, Sherman, Sulphur Springs and Texarkana Texas. Graham will have his work cut out for him competing in this district. The Tigers are coming off of back to back 3-7 seasons and the most wins during a season over the last 12 years is only 6 (4 times).
