Canadian had promoted assistant coach Chris Koetting to the be their new head coach and athletic director. Koetting will replace Kyle Lynch who is taking over the superintendent job with the school.
Lynch had a 92-16 record during his eight seasons with the Wildcats. He also led them to three consecutive state championship games winning two of them. The loss in last years championship game ended the Wildcats run of 13 consecutive playoff victories and two straight state titles.
Koetting was the offensive coordinator during that title run.
Canadian will be part of District 1-1A Division I. Other schools in the district are Amarillo Boys Ranch, Stinnett West Texas, Stratford and Sunray.
