Coaching Changes — Gainesville
-
Updated: April 7, 2010
Gainesville has hired defensive coordinator coach Lance Gary as their new athletic director and head coach. Gary will replace Ricky Lock who left to become the athletic director and head coach at Gonzales.
Gary will be Gainesville's fourth head coach since 2005. He was the Leopards defensive coordinator for the last two years. This will be his first time as the head coach. He also was an assistant coach at Brownsboro and Jacksonville before coming to Gainesville in 2008.
Lock went to Gonzales after finishing 7-13 during his two seasons with the Leopards. Not bad since Gainesville was 2-18 during the previous 2 seasons before he arrived.
Gainesville remains in District 9-3A for the next two years with Whitesboro, Argyle, Sanger, Pilot Point and Aubrey. Since finishing as the Class 3A Division I state runner-up in 2005, the Leopards are a combined 9-31.
