The Friendswood Mustangs (#6 4A) won a close one in the final minute of the game over Pearland Dawson (#37 4A)and LSG was there!! Going into the game, everyone expected this to not be so close and for Friendswood to win by 2 or 3 TDs. Dawson would have no part of that as they battled from a 20-6 halfime deficit to tie the game 27 all with only 8:02 left in the game. The Mustangs were calm though and drove the ball 65 yards and scored a TD with 1:20 left in the game to win 34-27.
1A Anton is forfeiting the remainder of its football schedule. The Bulldogs began the season with 18 players but have only 11 on the roster because of injuries. Anton, which was 0-3 this year and now owns a 42-game losing streak. They also forfeited their schedule in the middle of last season because it didn’t have enough players. The Bulldogs ended up playing six exhibition games at the six-man level and won four of them.
Wimberley (#2 3A)Texans star junior running back Dennis Smith is expected to miss the rest of the regular season after injuring his right foot during their 31-30 victory over Sealy. Smith has suffered an injury to the base of the small toe.
The 1A La Villa Cardinals (#18 1A Division I) took on 3A La Feria. The Cardinals led 39-34 with only a minute and a half left and La Feria was driving before DB Noe Castillo intercepted a pass and took it 42 yards for a score and a 45-34 lead with only 1:12 remaining. La Feria scored once more to make the final 45-40. La Villa QB Armando Aj Garza passed for 305 yards and 3 TDs. His season totals are now 1968 yards (328 yards per game) and 17 TDs passing through 6 games.
El Paso Franklin WR Sean McShane scored 6 TDs (4 receptions, punt return (40 yards) and a reverse (69 yards)) during their 38-18 victory over El Paso Bel Air
Bushland (#18 2A DI) scored with 1:43 remaining to defeat Muleshoe (#4 2A DI) 27-20. This ended Muleshoes 30 game regular season winning streak.
Stamford (#22 1A DI) won a wild doulbe overtime homecoming game 32-26 over Archer City (#3 1A DII). The Archer City defense had only allowed 39 points in their previous five games. Stamford WR Jesse Ramos had 4 catches for 84 yards and a TD in the game. He now has 727 receiving yards and 9 touchdows on the season.
Albany (#4 1A DI) got a big win over Winters (#32 1A DI) 42-14. No one knew what to expect from Winters...they came in with a 5-0 record but the teams they had beaten had a combined record of 5-17.
Euless Trinity has now scored 306 points (51 per game) and only given up 58 (9.67 per game) through 6 games
Caldwell (#19) beat Brookshire Royal (#10) 21-15. The Caldwell defense held superstar RB Brandon Williams to only 44 yards on 22 carries. Caldwell had only allowed 25 total points in the previous 4 games while Royal had scored at least 32 points in every game until now.
Canadian (#1 1A DI) QB Braden Hudson threw for 332 yards and 3 touchdowns during their 55-25 win over Panhandle. He now has 20 TD passes on the season through 6 games
Godley (#2 2A DI) remained undefeated with a convincing 37-6 victory over Eastland (#15 2A DI). The Godley came into the game winnin gby an average margin of 45 points per game. Eastlands defense had only allowed 16 points per game coming into the game.
Ben Bolt (#21 1A DI) QB Aaron Buerno passed for 419 yards and WR Andres Alaniz had 15 catches for 315 yards during their 27-21 win over Shiner (#31 1A D1). Alaniz now has 48 receptions for 976 yards for the season.
Bridgeport (#17 3A) defeated Graham (#18 3A) 34-21. The Bulls have now scored 231 points in 6 games (38.5 points per game)
For the first time in 37 years, Curtis Barbay was not on the sidelines for the Newton Eagles (#13 2A D1). Barbay passed away last week after collapsing at last weeks game. New coach Johnny Westbrook took over but a very emotional Newton team was unable to get the win as East Chambers (#19 2A DI) beat them 38-28.
Corpus Christ Ray QB Rey Rodriquez passed for 314 yards and 6 TDs during their 60-20 victory over Kingsville King. He now has 1724 yards (344.8 yards per game) and 22 TDs passing for the season.
Frisco Liberty was led by RB Jay Ajayi during their 71-7 win over Frisco Heritage. Ajayi had over 190 yards of total offense scored 4 touchdowns. It was the 5th consecutive game that Ajayi has rushed for 150 or more yards in a game. He now has 18 TDs for the season.
Dayton (#30 4A) RB Jakari Delasbour had over 400 yards of total offense and scored 4 TDs during their 52-23 win over Galena Park. The Bronco defense stepped up big too with 5 interceptions.
Cedar Hill (#17 5A) QB Driphus Jackson threw for 228 yards and 2 TDs to lead his team to a 49-28 victory over Mansfield Timberview. He now has 1417 yards and 14 TDs for the season.
West Orange-Stark (#26 3A) played in their first game since the passing of their star QB Reggie Garrett. The emotions were high but Kirbyville (#3 3A) was able to get a 28-14 victory over the Mustangs.
Fort Bend Elkins (#76 5A) ended Fort Bend Hightower’s (#34 5A) 25 game district win streak with a 45-33 victory. Coming into the game Elkins was 1-8 all-time vs Hightower.
Sherman (#18 4A) QB Thor Long passed for 312 yards and 4 TDs to lead the Bearcats to a 50-34 win over Sulphur Springs (#22 4A). Long now has 1654 yards (275 yards per game) and 18 TDs passing through 6 games.
