The San Antonio Madison Mavericks History Page Has Been Updated
Coach Jim Streety will be entering his 21st season with the Mavericks in 2011. Streety is a coaching legend who currently ranks #8 on the all-time coaching wins list. His all-time record is 311-119-3 (162-74-1 win the Mavericks). If the Mavericks have a 7 win season (which they almost always do), Coach Streety will move all the way up to #5. He would pass up other coaching legends Bob Shelton (313 wins), Charlie Johnston (314 wins) and Curtis Barbay (317 wins).
The Mavericks play in one of LSG's favorite districts (26-5A). It seems like every week a 26-5A game is one of the games of the week across the state. Madison was surprised by Converse Judson last year in bi-district play when the Rockets won 24-17. The Mavericks had beeten Judson 45-28 earlier in the season.
Look for another great season from the Mavericks. They play a very tough pre-district schedule with games against Cibolo Steele (defending 5A Division II Champion), Kerrville Tivy, New Braunfels and Converse Judson. Their main rival in district play is San Antonio MacArthur. The Mavericks are 9-9 since 1994 including playoff loss in 1998 in the "M&M Bowl" vs. the Brahmas. 2011 should be a continuation of their 20 consecutive non-losing seasons.
