Tyler Lee had three players rush for more than 100 yards as they defeated Tyler John Tyler 39-30. This was the 56th playing of the "Rose City Rivalry" that was played in front of 11,600 fans at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium. Tyler Lee leads the series 13-7 since 1994 and 13-2 since 1999. John Tyler leads the overall series 28-27-1.
Tyler Chapel Hill 21, Carthage 20
Tyler Chapel Hill defeated the three time defending state champion Carthage on their own turf 21-20. The Carthage loss ended their 22 game home winning streak. The win may have been costly for Chapel Hill as their starting quarterback Avery Saenz (ankle) and 2-way starter Andrew Tucker (hamstring) went out with injuries.
Carthage scored a touchdown with on 31 seconds remaining and decided to go for two. Their quarterback was stopped right at the goal line though. Chapel Hill then recovered the onside kick on the next play to hold on for the win.
