UIL Realignment Thoughts

2010 enrollment #'s
5A 2065 & up
4A 990 to 2064
3A 430 to 989
2A 200 to 429
1A 199 & below

2008 enrollment #’s
5A – 2085 and above
4A – 980-2084
3A – 430-979
2A – 200-429
1A – 199 and below
Last Time: The 5A level dropped 20 students which was the 1st time since 1990 that the # went down. 4A's minimum went down 10 students. Class 2A and 1A numbers stayed the same.

1A and 2A will be split into Division I and Division II prior to the season

After the announcement, schools can appeal the UIL's decision. Some schools will request to move up in classification and others will appeal to change districts because of travel concerns.
* How much will the enrollment numbers change?
* Should there be a Class 6A for the states largest schools?
* Should Class 3A, 4A & 5A split into Divisions before the season like Class 1A and 2A?
* Will Austin Lake Travis move up to Class 5A?
* Will Manvel move up to Class 5A?
* Will La Marque move down to Class 3A?
* Will Stephenville move down to Class 3A?
* Will El Campo move down to Class 3A?
* Will District 8-4A (Stephenville, Waco schools, Killeen & San Angelo Lake View) be split up -- lots of travel here?
* Will Denton Guyer remain in Class 5A?
* Will Longview move down to Class 4A?
* Will the Fort Bend school district (23-5A) break into 4A & 5A groups?
* Will 29-5A break into 4A & 5A groups?
* How will 7-4A be effected? (3 teams over 2,035 students last time)
* Will the Carrollton schools move up to 5A? (all 3 over 1,990 students last time)
* Will Wylie move up to 5A?
* Will Tyler John Tyler remain in 4A?
* Will Kilgore move down to 3A?
* Will the Pflugerville schools remain in 4A? (both over 1,940 students last time)
* Will the Houston ISD District 22-4A move some of its schools to 3A? (5 of them are under 950 students)
* Will Smithson Valley move up to 5A?
