Re-Alignment Questions Answered

Prior to the UIL's Realignment, we posed several questions along with some speculation.  The questions have been answered and most of our speculation has proven out.

* Will Austin Lake Travis move up to Class 5A?
Yes--They moved into District 15-5A along with Austin High, Austin Akins, Austin Anderson. Austin Bowie, Austin Westlake and Austin Del Valle. Their game with Westlake will be even higher profile now.

* Will Manvel move up to Class 5A?
Yes--The Mavericks moved into District 22-5A with Alvin, Pasadena, Pasadena Dobie, Pasadena Memorial, Pasadena Rayburn, Pasadena South Houston and Pearland. The Mavericks swith rivals from Pearland Dawson to Pearland High.

* Will La Marque move down to Class 3A?
Yes--The Cougars will be in District 24-3A with Houston KIPP Sunnyside, Stafford, Sweeny and West Columbia. The La Marque/West Columbia game will be a good one.

* Will Stephenville move down to Class 3A?
Yes--The Yellow Jackets moved down to District 7-3A along with Alvarado, Glen Rose, Hillsboro and Venus. Could this create 3A Championship games over former 4A Schools Stephenville vs. La Marque (they played for the 4A titles in 1993, 1994 and 1998 with the Yellow Jackets winning all 3 games)

* Will El Campo move down to Class 3A?
Yes--They will now be in a very tough District 25-3A with Bellville, Columbus, Needville, Royal, Sealy and Wharton.

* Will District 8-4A (Stephenville, Waco schools, Killeen & San Angelo Lake View) be split up — lots of travel here?
Yes--This one went all over. Stephenville dropped to 3A, Killeen and Waco Midway moved up to 5A and San Angelo Lake View went over to 4-4A in the Lubbock area.

* Will Denton Guyer remain in Class 5A?
No--Guyer swapped places with Denton Ryan as Guyer dropped to 5-4A and Ryan moved up to 5-5A.

* Will Longview move down to Class 4A?
No--Longview stayed in 5A with District 12-5A which has Mesquite, Mesquite Horn, North Mesquite, Rockwall, Rockwall-Heath and Tyler Lee

* Will the Fort Bend school district (23-5A) break into 4A & 5A groups?
Yes--3 Fort Bend schools (Fort Bend Marshall, Fort Bend Ridge Point and Fort Bend Willowridge) dropped to 4A to join District 22-4A with Houston Northbrook, Houston Spring Woods, Houston Stratford, Tomball and Tomball Memorial. 23-5A will have the rest of the Fort Bend schools -- Fort Bend Austin, Fort Bend Bush, Fort Bend Clements, Fort Bend Dulles, Fort Bend Elkins, Fort Bend Hightower, Fort Bend Kempner and Fort Bend Travis.

* Will 29-5A break into 4A & 5A groups?
Yes--3 of them (Laredo Cigarroa, Laredo Martin and Laredo Nixon) dropped down to 4A to join District 31-4A with Alice, CC Flour Bluff, Corpus Christi Miller, Corpus Christi Moody and Corpus Christi Ray. The rest of them - Del Rio, Eagle Pass, Eagle Pass Winn, Laredo Alexander, Laredo Johnson, Laredo United and Laredo United South stayed in 29-5A.

* How will 7-4A be effected? (3 teams over 2,035 students last time)
This district split up -- Granbury stayed in 4A and in 7-4A, Burleson, Cleburne, Joshua, Crowley and Everman moved to 8-4A, Arlington Seguin, Mansfield Summitt (stayed in 4A) moved to 15-4A.

* Will the Carrollton schools move up to 5A? (all 3 over 1,990 students last time)
Not all of them - Carrollton Turned moved up to 6-5A, Creekview and Smith moved ot 10-4A along with Dallas Highland Park, Forney, Mesquite Poteet, North Forney, Terrell and West Mesquite.

* Will Wylie move up to 5A?
No--They did move from 10-4A to District 13-4A though to be with Denison, Greenville, Lucas Lovejoy, McKinney North, Royse City, Sherman and Wylie East.

* Will Tyler John Tyler remain in 4A?
Yes--They move from 14-4A to District 16-4A with Corsicana. Jacksonville, Lindale, Nacogdoches and Whitehouse.

* Will Kilgore move down to 3A?
Yes--They drop down into one of the toughest 3A districts in the state -- District 16-3A with Bullard, Gilmer, Gladewater, Henderson, Longview Spring Hill and Tyler Chapel Hill.

* Will the Pflugerville schools remain in 4A? (both over 1,940 students last time)
Yes & No -- Pflugerville Connally stays in 4A moving from Region II to Region III with District 17-4A along with Bastrop, Bastrop Cedar Creek, Elgin, Georgetown, Georgetown East View, Hutto and Manor. Pflugerville Hendrickson moves up to Class 5A with District 16-5A and Pflugerville, Round Rock, Round Rock McNeil, Round Rock Stony Pt., Round Rock Westwood and RR Cedar Ridge.

* Will the Houston ISD District 22-4A move some of its schools to 3A? (5 of them are under 950 students)
Yes & No -- A combination of 21-4A and 22-4A dropped down to 3A to make up District 23-3A. Houston Furr, Houston Jones, Houston Kashmere, Houston Scarborough, Houston Sterling, Houston Washington, Houston Worthing and Houston Yates. (I know this is a football site but Yikes -- having Yates in 3A basketball...they beat 5A teams all the time).

* Will Smithson Valley move up to 5A?
Yes--They join District 25-5A with Converse Judson, New Braunfels, New Braunfels Canyon, San Antonio Wagner and San Marcos.

The 5A minimum jumped up 25 students to 2090 which is the largest all-time.
The 4A minimum and max both went up to all-time highs.

The 2A minimum stayed the same since 2008 but the max went up to an all-time high.
The 1A level stayed the same since 2008.
1A and 2A will be split into Division I and Division II prior to the season
