* They followed the running of RB Wayne Onderdonck last year all the way to the championship game last year. He had 5,807 career rushing yards
* That makes 2 years in a row that they lost to the championship team in the playoffs after falling to Henderson in 2010 and Tyler Chapel Hill last year

Mike Says:The Indians had on of 3A's best defenses last year shutting out 5 opponent on their way to the championship game. This year they bring back only 4 starters from that defense but LB Villarreal is back and he will be a leader. The offense returns 7 starters including QB West. Look for them to go 8-2 or 9-1 in the regular season as they start out as a TOP 15 3A team. Their game against Stephenville will be for the district championship and should make our game of the week section. Once in the playoffs, they will be the Division II team and should make it to at least the Regionals.

Chris Says: Alvarado has been downright amazing in recent years and after falling just one point short in the championship game, will be looking to prove something. The Indians don't bring back a lot of starters, but they do have a large number (24) of returning lettermen - unfortunately, their powerhouse runner, Onderdonck is not one of them. I would not be surprised to see them have a great season, but a return to trip to the title game is unlikely.
