Coaches Comments: We will need to raise our level of play due to us moving up to 2A Division II. Our offensive line has to mature for us to move the ball consistently. We will also have to replace some very productive 2012 football players. We will need to stay healthy and get better as a team each week. I think we will be a more complete team depending on a number of playmakers. Our experience in lettermen returned will help us overcome some depth problems. District Outlook: Our district will be more tougher each night, which will force our starters to play more minutes. Moving up to 2A will also force our team to raise its level of play. Cooper returns a very talented playoff ball club. Alba - Golden returns some major players that experienced the playoffs last year. Edgewood will also present a challenge.
Returning Lettermen: 18
Returning Starters: Offense: 7 Defense: 8
Key Players:
* Gary Moore - Leading WR in yardage and TD Receptions and Fourth leading tackler Gary will be a major leader in offensive and defensive production 850 yards 10 TDs receiving 78 tackles FR TD - 1, INT TD - 1 2nd Team All-State TE (TSWA), TOP 30 WR 1st Team All-District LB
* Kelton Scales is second leading WR in yardage and receptions, he is also the leading return yardage leader Kelton gives us a game changing threat on special teams as well as offense and defense 452 receiving, 6 TD, 395 rushing, 4 TD, INT - 4, 38 tackles 1st Team All-District
* Stephen McPeters is our leading tackler and sack person is a very explosive player with game changing ability. He will be the big impact player for us on defense. 98 tackles 28 TFL, FR 2, FC 2 1st Team All-State (TSWA), 2nd Team All-State (AP) TOP 45 DL
* Michael Turner DE - 79 tackles, 11 TFL, FR TD - 1, Michael will help us dominate teams up front with his physical strength
* LB Lonnie Hobbs 1st Team All-District
* LB Devontray Forte 1st Team All-District
Notes:
* The Tigers return to Class 2A after going 17-7 during their 2 seasons in 1A
* They went 10-20 in the 3 previous seasons in 2A before dropping down
* Last years 10 wins was most in school history
- Mike Says: The Tigers did not do so well the last time they were in 2A but they learned to win in 1A and will keep that streak going. They should win district and may go 2 or 3 rounds in the playoffs where Corsicana-Mildred, Gunter and Holliday all reside in the region. WR Moore will be a weapon on the offensive side while McPeters will shore up the defensive side.
- Chris Says: Clarksville moves up to Class 2A and should be able to compete right away. They bring back a lot of talent (18 lettermen) and will be a playoff team. Coming off their best record in school history, the Tigers will have a hard time matching that record, but still should last a couple of rounds deep.
