Who is Most Likely to Repeat as State Champion?
-
Updated: August 25, 2012
The results are in! We asked Texas high school football fans what teams they thought had the best chance of repeating as state champions and you have very clear opinions.
A couple of notes:
- Southlake Carroll, Austin Lake Travis and Refugio appear to be the only teams with a legitimate shot at repeating.
- Six in a row for Austin Lake Travis is favored by more than half the voters despite moving up to Class 5A in the realignment
- The only team in history with a perfect playoff record, Spring DeKaney is getting no love as only 4% thought they would repeat
- The graduation of Jonathan Gray looks to be the end of the championship string for the Aledo Bearcats.
- Among the smaller schools, Refugio is the clear favorite to repeat although at 44%, less than half of the voters think they will do it.
