2013 Coaching Change: Hutto Hippos
Old Head Coach: Steve Hale -- Leaving for 4A Medina Valley. He led the Hippos to a 23-9 record in 3 seasons. His only other head coaching position was at Fort Worth Arlington Heights where he led the Yellow Jackets to a 16-7 record. He has also been an assistant at La Marque, Hillsboro and Sulphur Springs.
New Head Coach: Steve Van Meter -- Coming back after a 1 year retirement. He led the Mustangs of Friendswood to a 148-80-1 record over 20 seasons. His coaching record puts him just over the Top 230 all-time winningest coaches in texas high school football history. Coach Van Meter was a wide receiver and defensive back on the 1973 Friendswood state championship football team. He began coaching with the Mustangs in 1981. He became the head coach in 1992.
Team News: The Hippos have had 5 consecutive non-losing seaons gong 34-18.
