Northside Stevens Promotes Former NFL Player

2013 Coaching Change: Northside Stevens Falcons
Old Head Coach: Lee Bridges -- Leaving for 5A Leander. Ge led the Falcons to a 37-42 record over the past 7 seasons. He has been the only head coach in the history of Stevens which began varsity play in 2006. Coach Bridges has also been the head coach at Northside Taft, Killeen (1996-1999 going 15-25) and Austin High (1992-1995 going 16-25). He has a career record of 115-117-0 which puts him in the Top 350 all-time for coaching wins.
New Head Coach: Darryl Hemphill -- Was the Falcons defensive coordinator since they began varsity play in 2006. His only other head coaching position was at Northside O'Connor where he led the Panthers to a 8-30 record from 1998-2001. Coach Hemphill played in the NFL in the early 80's with the Baltimore Colts.
Team News: The Falcons 1-9 season last year tied for their worst record in school history (they went 1-9 in their first varsity season in 2006).
