Belton Hosts 2013 Lone Star Shootout

Belton, Texas is hosting  a two-day 7 on 7 tournament held at the Belton High School.  This year’s shootout will feature 14 teams playing over two days to determine the shootout champion.  5A and District 8AAAAA schools Belton, Copperas Cove, Ellison, Shoemaker, and Killeen High will all be participating.  2012 4A State Finalist Georgetown will make its first trip to the Lone Star Shootout.  2012 3A quarterfinalist Gatesville and perennial 3A power China Spring will be participating as well.  2A McGregor is the defending Lone Star Shootout Champion and will return to defend their title along with 2A Scurry Rosser from the Dallas area.

This tournament is not affiliated with the State 7 on 7 Organization and is set up very differently than a SQT. School from all classifications compete against each other.  The quarterback is allowed to run with the ball once per possession.  Defenses are given points for turnovers.  All teams will play at least 8 games and could play up to 12.

We would like to invite you to the shootout if any of these schools are in your coverage area.  Team rosters will be available to the media.  Along with a tournament champion. Runner Up, and Consolation Champion

Schedule for Friday June 14th

9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Registration BHS Athletic Complex
9:30 a.m. Coaches Meeting for teams playing at 10:00 to review rules
10:00 a.m. Coaches Meeting for Teams playing at 10:30 to review rules
10:00a.m. – 5:00p.m. Pool Play at Tiger Field (All Games 25 Minutes / Coin Flip determines who gets ball first)
6:30 p.m. Pool results emailed out for Bracket Play Saturday

Schedule for Saturday June 15th

8:30 a.m. Check In
9:00 a.m. Bracket Play Round 1 (Halves 15 / 5 / 15) Top team is home and gets ball in 2nd half.
9:45 a.m. Bracket Play Round 2 (Halves 15 / 5 / 15) Top team is home and gets ball in 2nd half.
10:30 a.m. Round Three (Halves 15 / 5 / 15) Top team is home and gets ball in 2nd half.
11:30 a.m. Semifinals (Halves 20 / 10 / 20) Top team is home and gets ball in 2nd half.
1:00 p.m. Loser of semifinal and Winner of Consolation play for championship birth. (Halves 20/10/20)
2:00 p.m. Championship Game (Halves 20/10/20)
3:00 p.m. Championship Game 2 if needed (only if winner of 12:30 game wins verse #1 seed)

Notes:
All Teams will play 6 games on Friday and a minimum of 2 games on Saturday.
Water and fruit will be provided at hospitality area. Players must have a wristband to use hospitality area.
Camp area for all teams is on grass on south end of tiger stadium. (Scoreboard area)
Hospitality Room for Coaches at BHS athletic complex classroom.
Teams and Coaches will pick up t shirts at Registration on Friday
Mouthpieces must be worn.
All teams should have two colors of uniforms. We will be lenient on who wears light and who wears dark. If both teams want white or color, we will flip 5 minutes prior to start time.
