- Mike Says:The Wildcats started the season 0-2 last year but turned things around to win a state championship. They bring back a lot from that team including superstar QB Jerrod Heard. I do not see any reason why this team will not be playing in their 3rd state championship game in only 8 years of varsity play. They open up the season at Cedar Hill which will pit the Class 4A DI champion against the Class 5A DII Runner Up.
- Chris Says: John Walsh has built himself quite a dynasty in his 7 years as Denton Guyer's only head coach. This story will continue to grow this season. Not only to the Wildcats bring back a ton of lettermen, but the majority of their starters too. They win a state championship AND they have more experience, more growth, more belief in themselves. Of course they are the favorite for a repeat visit to that final weekend of postseason play. Sure, they will be tested by some tough matchups early and that is the reason why Denton Guyer will repeat as champions.
